Byadgi is famous for its chillies which generate a lot of seasonal work for the women folk who go to the chilli fields early in the morning for picking, drying, sorting and packing the chllies.  This led to a sizeable number of girl child school dropouts who had to be at home to take care of their younger siblings.  The poor mothers very well understood this predicament and approached us with a request to start crèches and balwadees to take care of this situation.  Their request being genuine 4 crèches and 4 balwadees were started in rented accommodation where besides taking care of the tiny tots and providing basic education also balanced nutritious food is supplied every day.  This has helped elder children specially the girl child to go back to school instead of baby sitting in the house.
